It's a piece that holds a special place in my heart, not only because it ties into the narrative of Scarlet Veins, but because of the unique and personal journey that led to its creation.
It all started on a quiet Saturday morning around 5 AM, the kind of moment when the world is still and everything feels surreal. I woke up with a melody echoing in my mind that wouldn't fade, no matter how much I tried to ignore it. It felt like something important, something I needed to hold onto. As I lay there in the stillness, the first verse came to me, Sera's verse, to be exact. I had no idea at the time how significant it would become.
You see, when I started working on Scarlet Veins, I swore I wouldn’t add any more songs to the story, except for Stay. The songs had to serve a deeper purpose, not just be a collection of random tunes. But as the day went on, I couldn't escape the melody that was playing in my head. It lingered, growing stronger with every passing hour, and before I knew it, Scarlet Tears had come to life.
Sera and Azriel’s journey is at the heart of Scarlet Tears. Their story is one of deep emotional turmoil, unresolved tension, and the search for redemption. This duet represents the rawness of their feelings, their intertwined fates, their struggles, and the moments of vulnerability that they share. For Sera, Azriel is both a source of pain and solace, a complicated figure whose presence looms over her heart. For Azriel, the journey is about grappling with his past and finding a way to move forward, even if it means confronting his darkest fears.

I can’t tell you how often I’ve wished I knew how to write music in notes and chords. It would be amazing to share that with you, Scarlet Tears in its full musical form. But alas, my skills only extend to writing the words that fill the spaces between the beats and the notes, which I hope still resonate with you. The lyrics, the story, and the emotions tied to the song were my only tools.
Scarlet Tears isn’t just another song. It’s a deep dive into lyric writing for me, a manifestation of how words, melody, and emotion collide into something greater than the sum of their parts. It’s a reflection of Sera and Azriel’s journey, the ups and downs, the hopes and heartbreaks that echo throughout Scarlet Veins. This song became more than just a soundtrack to the book; it became a way for me to connect with the characters on a deeper level.
